Antique Dealers: the British Antique Trade in the 20th Century

W.O. Oldman

William Ockelford Oldman (1879-1949) was a specialist dealer in ethnographical objects and arms and armour; he traded as 'Savage Art' during the 1920s. He amassed an extensive collection of ethnographic artefacts, which was eventually sold to the Government of New Zealand for £44,000 in 1948, just before his death. Oldman traded from his home at Brixton Hill, London, before moving to Clapham Park, London in the early 1930s.
