Way's Antique Gallery was established in Bristol by John Phillip Way in 1887, according to their own publicity. J.P. Way died on 27th May 1920, and the business was continued by his son, Reginald P. Way, the author of Antique Dealer, an autobiography of R.P. Way (1956), who sold the shop to the dealer Montague Sainsbury in 1951.
