Ezekial Edgar Gorer (1872-1915) was born in Brighton, the son of Solomon Gorer, a silversmith trading in Brighton and later in London in the late 19th century. Edgar joined the business by 1899 when they became S. Gorer & Son. Edgar Gorer died in 1915 (he drowned in the sinking of the Lusitania on 7th May 1915). Probate on his will was proved on 29th May 1915, when he left the considerable sum of £53,272.15s.7d to his widow Rebecca Alice Gorer.
