How of Edinburgh

How of Edinburgh were leading specialists in antique silver and was established by Lt-Commander G.E.P. How (Royal Navy, retired), F.S.A Scot. and his wife Jane Prentice How (1915-2004) - the business was established in 1930. G.E.P. How was born in Edinburgh on June 23rd 1894, and spent much of his youth with his uncle Lord Cuncliffe, who taught him about antique silver.  How's fist purchase of antique silver, when he was a cadet in the Royal Navy, was a George II basting spoon, purchased in Gibraltar in 1911 for 32s. 6d - in 1936 he still owned the spoon.

How superintended the building of his own ship, The Robert Double, in Goole, (now in East Yorkshire), creating special cases to take his own Charles II and Queen Anne table silver and decanters.
