Edwin Marriott Hodgkins was trading as an antique dealer by the 1880s, and opened a shop in Old Bond Street by 1897 and in New Bond Street in 1904. He remained in New Bond Street until 1920, when he appears to have relocated to Paris. Marriott produced a catalogue of his own collection of Old Sevres Porcelain in 1910, which was later purchased by the American collector Henry Walters (1848-1931) and remains in the Walters Art Museum in Baltimore, USA.
