Antique Dealers: the British Antique Trade in the 20th Century

Frederick Oeschger & Sons

Frederick Oeschger & Sons were established in about 1900.  Bob Oeschger, the grandson of Frederick Charles Oeschger, recalls from his father and his own research that his grandfather Frederick Charles Oeschger had a furniture business and a shop at No 5 Noel Street, London (which in 2019 was now Kliens Haberdashery). Bob tells us that his father and uncle were both born over the shop in Noel Street.  His grandfather changed the family name from Oeschger to Oscar after the outbreak of the Second World War with Germany and his shop in Noel St was vandalised.  The Oscar family migrated from Middlesex to Australia in the 1960s as 'Ten Pound Poms'.  Bob now lives in Sydney, Australia.

We are very grateful to Bob Ocar for help with this antique dealer entry.
