Asher Wertheimer (1844-1918) was descended from a family of 19th century bronze manufacturers and antique dealers. Wertheimer was one of the most influential art and antiques dealers of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He died on 9th August 1918, aged 74. In his Will he left an estate valued at the extraordinary sum of £750,000.
