Walter Stephen Bird opened his antique shop in 1936, retiring from being a musical comedy actor in the West End. Bird founded the Kensington Antique Dealers' Association and was a key member in the establishment of the Kensington Antiques Fair in 1952. He died on 16th June 1959.
