Antique Dealers: the British Antique Trade in the 20th Century

The Spanish Art Gallery

The Spanish Art Gallery was a leading art and antique dealership during the first half of the 20th century. An antique dealing business was established by Lionel Harris Snr (b.1852) in 1894, according to their own publicity (see entry for Lionel Harris) and was continued into the 20th century by Tomas Harris (1908-1964) and Lionel Harris Jnr (b.1903). Tomas Harris also traded under his own name (see Tomas Harris), as did Lionel Harris Jnr (see Lionel Harris Jnr). Lionel, Maurice, Lionel Jnr and Tomas were also partners in The Kent Gallery.

Tomas Harris OBE died in Mallorca on 27th January 1964 (probate at £60,0213.)
