Reginald Clifford-Phillips established an antique dealing business by 1915 in London; by the 1919 he moved the business to Newbury at The Dower House. In the 1940s the partners in the firm were Reginald Clifford, Ivy Clifford and John Clifford. By the late 1950s Reginald's son, John, had taken over the business and moved the business to Cookham, and by the 1960s the business was owned by John Clifford and Joan M. King (Reginald's daughter and John's sister).
